Vintage Design
A highly decorative African Lobi chair, crafted in Burkina Faso during the 1940s. This type of stool / chair was for individual use and marked the social rank of its owner. Carved from sturdy hardwood, possibly from indigenous trees like shea or African teak, the Lobi Chair features a minimalist design with a reclined backrest and a sturdy seat. A beautiful wabi sabi object with a fine patina. Perfect as a decorative chair for modern interior. “Wabi-sabi is the view or thought of finding beauty in every aspect of imperfection in nature. It is about the aesthetic of things in existence, that are “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete”.
