Who else fails to resist the allure of blue and white transferware, especially an oversized ironstone platter like this one from Wedgwood that would look equally as lovely as the centerpiece of a family dinner as it would on display? Majestic British castles are surrounded by florals and songbirds. The outer rim is an early version of bohemian design, with repeated shapes. Marked Wedgwood on the reverse, and a single “E” where Edinburg was meant to be printed. Measures 16.75″ long, 14″ deep, and 1.5″ tall. This pattern was produced from the mid- to late-1800s. This piece has all the right crazing (primarily on the back) and patina on the sides and front that lets you know it is an aged and well-loved piece. No chips, but some rough spots from wear over the years.
