A rare find! These beautiful handpainted tiles from Holland feature 12 different ships and each are framed in a pecan wood frame. Makers mark on the back indicates they are Tichelaar Makkum pottery from Holland, made somewhere between the turn of the century and mid-20th century. This set is beautiful as is, hung together in a gallery style or broken up as desired. But their uses are also endless as they can easily be removed from the frames and installed and grouted on a backsplash, around a fireplace, and countless other design possibilities. The tiles are in excellent shape for their age with slight crazing and pitting. The frames have a few scuff marks. These belonged to one family estate and was in their mid century lake house for three generations. Each tile (including frame) is 6″ x 6.”
